How to report properly

Always report directly — not via concierge or social media

Reporting to the concierge is not sufficient: they are not law enforcement. Posting on social media (Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.) is not sufficient: the police do not monitor those channels. To put an incident on record you must call 999, 101, or use one of the online reporting links below.

Always get a CAD reference

When you report to the Met by phone or online, you should be given a CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) reference. Note it down — share it with the WARA committee when you submit a report on /safety so we can chase it.

Silent 999 — when you can't speak

Call 999 from a mobile, stay on the line, and listen to the operator's questions. Cough or tap the handset to respond. When prompted, press 55 to confirm it's a real emergency. From a landline, hang up if it's not safe to speak — the operator will call back.

Text 999 — for deaf, hard-of-hearing or speech-impaired users

You have to register your phone first by sending the word "Register" by SMS to 999, then following the reply instructions. Once registered, you can text 999 in an emergency.

Greenwich Council ASB review

If you've reported the same anti-social behaviour issue to the council at least three times and nothing has changed, you can request a formal ASB Case Review. Use the council ASB phone or email — see /safety/emergency.
